St. Augustine Orchid Society Culture Notes: Grow similarly to cattleyas with heavier water and fertilizer in summer and slightly drier and cooler in winter. Some report good success with growing in baskets in sphagnum, though the sphagnum has to be replaced every two years or so.

another site says "Local (Gulf coast) recommendations are to grow it warm/hot all year; dappled light in summer, brighter in winter. This plant does not like a hard dry rest, but water should be decreased in mid-late winter, which is when the blooming season starts; however, it should never be completely dry - only enough to drop a few leaves; it is not deciduous."
