A small to medium sized, Brazilian epiphytic or sometimes lithophytic species with a solitary leaf, that is a cool to hot growing plant found on tall trees or in massive clumps on rocks at elevations of 800 to 1500 meters with club-shaped, compressed, grooved, pseudobulbs with a single, apical, suberect, oblong-lanceolate, obtuse or notched apically leaf that blooms mostly in the summer on a to 12" [to 30 cm] long, racemose inflorescence, arising from a large flattened sheath, with 4 to 9 fragrant, showy, long-lasting flowers.
