Claire Garret's note: I learned that it is a cool to intermediate grower from mountainous areas in India and Nepal but it can tolerate warmer conditions providing that you give it some dormancy during the winter, gradually reducing water till you're only watering twice a month in the winter then resuming normal watering when new growth starts in the spring. I learned that this dormancy will help to stimulate spring time flowering. I'm mentioning this because you said you have not been able to get yours to bloom. The flowers are supposed to be fragrant however one website from Thailand described it as a sweet fragrance of wet blankets! That's something to look forward to and see if we agree with this description. When it's actively growing in the spring and summer it likes to be kept moist you're right about that. It also said that if you mist it late in the afternoon on the hot summer days that helps it tolerate the warmer climate. It is also synonymous with Coelogyne amoena and huettneriana.
